What is Truth?

Ok, Ok, Ok... Well as we are drawing near to the end of the year and the beginning of a new one. I just survived a quick Black Friday romp through Wal-Mart. My wife has this thing down to a science, we get there late and are first out of the store, it is insane. But I digress, my goal here is truth and so I figured over the next couple of week I would post a few promo clips and then as we being leading the group I will post the coming weeks promo, then we will post general discussions from the group. We pray that as we go through this and post our discussion that you will learn and we also pray that if you can find a group near you that you would seek one out. If you would like I can try to find one for you through our leader network. So, we hope you enjoy the promo.

Happy Thanksgiving

Well it has been a year since our disaster Thanksgiving and in one sense a ton of things have changed but unfortunately in other respects nothing has changed. So my wish for Thanksgiving is best communicated through prayer.

Father God, I come before You on this eve before Thanksgiving to pray that Your Spirit would be poured on Your church and that each an every person counted Yours would begin to live their lives as You will, forsaking all that is against You and counted evil by You, Lord that we would forsake even the appearance of wrong-doing for no other reason than for Your Glory. Lord help us all be ever aware of everything that we have to be thankful for. Lord I pray for those who do not know You, that those who know You would not waste another day in their comfy place and bring Your truth and Your witness to lost every opprotunity that You provide. Father I thank You so much for this life You have given, Lord I thank You for the blessings, I thank You for friends and family, I thank You for Your word, Lord I thank You for trials and hardships. Father most of all I thank You for Your Son, and for Your forgiveness. Jesus I thank You for Your sacrifice for me. Jesus help me this day and every day live my life aware of what You have done and may I motivated to live my life as a sacrifice to You for Your Glory. Jesus it is in Your name I pray Amen!

If you do know Him, go and make sure everyone you know, understands how much God loves them and the sacrifice He made for them that while they were still sinners Jesus died for them!

Truth

OK, so I already have four blogs and a website, besides being a husband, daddy of four and a full time student. So why on Earth would I start another blog? Well the title of the Blog is the reason why. The TRUTH, what is the truth, you might ask or have asked sometime in your life and it is a relevant question. It may be even more relevant in our day and time than ever before. It is a question that men and women have been asking, for who know how long.
So, what is it...the Truth that is?
Well, if you look back throughout history it is a question the Pilate asked of Jesus, but did he (Pilate) really want an answer or was it asked rhetorically. In our day and age we are told that Truth is relative, meaning that you can have your truth and I can have mine, even if they are in direct opposition. As an example, I believe in creation, the evidence for intelligent design, ( a term I do not like all that well) is overwhelming, I am convinced. You may hold that we evolved from nothing into goo and then on and on. The problem that "TRUTH" poses is that both of these are not and cannot be simultaneously TRUE. A simpler illustration might be we each have four apples and I have four, we each count them and I say we nine and you say we have only eight, both answers cannot be TRUTH.
While at the beginning I slipped in the statement that truth is relevant but in our world today we are told that it is not relevant but relative. So, what is the difference well relevant is desribed as relating to or bearing upon the matter in hand, it implies a traceable, significant, logical connection. While relative, The term often refers to truth relativism, which is the doctrine that there are no absolute truths, i.e., that truth is always relative to some particular frame of reference, such as a language or a culture.
But wait if there are no absolute truths and that is an absolute statement it in itself is a contradiction of its own definition. But that is only a portion of what this Blog is about, let me define truth. It is that which corresponds to reality, that which is really real.

Truth is a pathway to freedom from the bondage of the lie. Jesus said that the Truth will set you free. So, as I said I will be leading some small groups over the next year, I have gone through the training, and am now just going through the program solo and then the wife and I will lead our family through it and beginning in January we will begin to lead other groups.

So, stay tuned. Ask questions, because the goal of this study of Veritology: The study of Truth; particularly the study of God's character and His Word as it relates to reality.

This is also a Worldview study, everyone has a world view, do you know what your is? Well as we go through this we will not focus a great deal on all worldviews, rather we will study and educate the body of believers to help us all achieve a Biblical Worldview. Here is the definition of worldview just in case you have never heard the term before. Worldview: A comprehensive set of truth claims that purports to paint a picture of reality; the framework from which we view reality and make sense of life and the world.

Here we go...Again?

Well I have this new blog and I decided to go with no backgrounds, no add ons or extras. This blog will be temporary, and I will only use it as I lead small groups in this new program called "The Truth Project", this is a worldview study which helps believers to know and understand what the Scriptures say about every aspect of our lives, things like Theology, Anthropology, Veritology, Sociology, and many points that come from each of these areas. It is hosted and taught by Dr. Del Tackett, and he describes "The Truth Project" like this;

"This series is designed to take participants on a guided worldview tour, following the points of the worldview compass, a tool designed to direct our thinking with regard to four fundamental issues: Truth, God, Man, and the Social Order. Along the way, we will attempt to build a logical, systematic framework of ideas by which to organize and evaluate the various truth claims to be encountered during the course of our tour. Our ultimate goal is not simply to gain knowledge, but to look upon the face of God – and to be transformed in the process."

As I said, I have chosen no background, no extras, so we can keep the focus on God not on me or this blog. I will blog my experiences of going through this program and how it changes my life and my walk, and the lives of those we lead through the study.
